Australian Open champ Aryna Sabalenka did not capitalize on the 6:0, and 3:1 lead in the Dubai quarterfinals match against Barbora Krejcikova. Barbora ended her 13-0 undefeated start to the season on Thursday.
Coming into this match, Sabalenka had not lost a match in 2024, winning two titles in Australia in January, including a maiden Grand Slam trophy.
However, her streak was snapped as Krejcikova defeated her 0:6, 7:6, and 6:1, to set up a semi-final clash with Jessica Pegula.
Sabalenka will now travel to Miami before heading to Indian Wells, where she hopes to recapture her title-winning form.
