Novak Djokovic, the 22-time Grand Slam champion, is facing the possibility of being unable to participate in an upcoming tennis tournament in Italy. The Serbian tennis player has been banned from playing at the Miami Open, and although he has reportedly been invited to take part in an event in Italy during the same time frame, he will not be able to do so under current ATP regulations.
The ban comes as a result of Djokovic’s previous refusal to be vaccinated against COVID-19, which has led to controversy and repercussions within the tennis community.
The situation is further complicated by the fact that Djokovic is also set to miss out on participating in two other major tournaments, the Miami Open and Indian Wells in the United States. This is due to the government requirements in place that prevent unvaccinated individuals from entering the country.
Despite his status as one of the sport’s top players, Djokovic’s decision not to get vaccinated against COVID-19 has resulted in a significant setback to his career, with the possibility of more consequences to come.
