Lauren Davis continued her impressive run at the Catalonia Open by defeating Camila Osorio 6-4, 6-3 in the quarterfinals. The American, seeded No 3, will now face Sorana Cirstea of Romania, the second seed, in the next round. Davis currently ranked No 56 in the world, has been in excellent form in the tournament so far and will be confident of continuing her winning streak against Cirstea.
In her previous matches, Davis defeated Julia Grabher of Austria in straight sets (6-2, 7-6 (4)) and battled past Viktoriya Tomova of Bulgaria (6-2, 2-6, 7-5). Her victory over Osorio was another impressive display of her skills on the court. With her consistent play and strong mental fortitude, Davis will be a tough opponent for anyone in the tournament.
Meanwhile, Osorio can hold her head high after a solid performance in the tournament. The Colombian defeated Moyuka Uchijima of Japan and Leyre Romero Gormaz of Spain before falling to Davis in the quarterfinals. Despite the loss, Osorio will take confidence from her strong showing and will look to build on it in her upcoming matches.
