Andreescu Forced to Leave the Court in a Wheelchair

Former US Open champion Bianca Andreescu had to retire hurt from her last-16 match against Ekaterina Alexandrova at the Miami Open on Monday. The Canadian tennis player left the court in a wheelchair after injuring her left ankle in the third game of the second set.

The match was already disrupted by a two-hour rain delay during the first set. Alexandrova advanced 7-6 0-2 and will face Petra Kvitova in the next round. Despite her victory, Alexandrova expressed her sympathies for Andreescu’s injury and wished her a speedy recovery.

Meanwhile, Aryna Sabalenka, the Australian Open champion, cruised past former French Open winner Barbora Krejcikova 6-3 6-2 in just over an hour. Sabalenka demonstrated her strong form and proved to be a formidable opponent for her competitors.

As the tournament progresses, we eagerly await more exciting matches and hope for the speedy recovery of injured players like Bianca Andreescu.
