Ben Shelton, a 20-year-old American tennis player, had a breakout tournament at the Australian Open earlier this year, where he made it to the quarterfinals in his first international outing. In the latest edition of Players’ Voice, Shelton shared that he no longer feels like a tourist at top events and is now ready to compete against anyone.
He also shared some valuable advice from his father and his aspirations for the future, including a desire to test himself against the likes of Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, as well as compete at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Despite his relatively short career, Shelton has already made a name for himself in the tennis world and is currently preparing for his first appearance at Indian Wells. In the Players’ Voice interview, he expressed his love for playing in front of big crowds and the excitement of the challenge that comes with facing top-ranked players.
Shelton also shared some advice that his father gave him, which he believes has helped him succeed so far: “Just go out there and compete. No matter who you’re playing against, just compete and give it your all.” With his determination and drive, Shelton looks set to achieve great things in the years to come.
