Jack Draper, the rising British tennis star, has caused a major upset at the BNP Paribas Open by defeating former World No. 1 Andy Murray in straight sets to advance to the last 16.
In what was a closely contested match, Draper struggled to find his rhythm early on but managed to win a hard-fought first set after saving a set point on serve at 5-6 and eventually winning the tie-break. Murray, who had shown signs of fatigue throughout the tournament, was unable to maintain his form and went on to lose the second set 6-2.
The victory marks a significant milestone for Draper, who has now knocked out two fellow Brits at Indian Wells after defeating Dan Evans in the second round.
The 20-year-old left-hander has been making waves on the professional tennis circuit in recent months, with his impressive performances earning him a rapidly growing fan base. Draper’s win over Murray is sure to add to his growing reputation as a rising star in the sport, and he will undoubtedly be one to watch as the tournament progresses.
