The Italian national tennis team managed to advance to the semifinals of the Davis Cup after they defeated the United States of America 2:1.

The first win was secured by Lorenzo Sonego, who beat Frances Tiafoe in two sets – 6:3, 7:6. Americans managed to tie the score after Taylor Fritz defeated Lorenzo Musetti, 7:6, 6:3.

The second and final point for Italy was secured in the doubles match, where Simone Bolelli and Fabio Fognini bested Tommy Paul and Jack Sock 6:4, 6:4.

Italy will face the winner of the matches between Germany and Canada.
