Cameron Norrie’s impressive run at Indian Wells came to an end at the quarter-final stage after a straight-set defeat to American Frances Tiafoe. The British No. 1 was unable to extend his eight-match winning streak as Tiafoe emerged victorious with a 6-4, 6-4 scoreline.
Norrie, the 2021 champion at Indian Wells and winner of the Rio de Janeiro title last month, ends the tournament with a 21-4 win-loss record for the year.
Tiafoe, on the other hand, continued his dominant form at Indian Wells, having not dropped a set throughout the tournament so far. The American reached the semi-finals of last year’s US Open, where he was defeated by eventual champion Carlos Alcaraz.
Up next for the 14th-seeded Tiafoe is a highly anticipated encounter with Russian fifth seed Daniil Medvedev in the semi-finals. It promises to be an intriguing clash between two of the top players on the tour, with Tiafoe hoping to extend his winning streak and book a place in the final.
